Our 2 Favorites from the Oscars Red Carpet
Feb 22, 2015
The Oscars are tonight and that calls for the big guns when it comes to the red carpet. I swear everyone looked amazing tonight so I can't even make a "worst dressed" list. So instead, here is our personal favorites list from all of the amazing looks for tonight!
Rita Ora |
Jamie Chung |
Both of these dresses are giving me life! Many celebrities every award show try to come and pull off the same type of dress Rita is rocking by Marchesa, but the reason why I love this dress so much is because of the color first off, I rarely see deep navy blue on the red carpet, very mysterious and midnight sky looking. I also love the pop of gold incorporated into the hip and breast of the dress which helps visually attract the eye down to the tail of the dress. Jamie Chung's Yanina Couture gown is something I've never seen before so it's always interesting to see a new design worn the right way on the red carpet. She also is rocking a deep navy utilized in the tulle bottom incorporated around the nude base of the dress, which compliments her skin tone to a tea! And the sequins just her look so much glitz and glam. Both of these looks together are amazing!

Tom Ford Sets the Fashion Level for Oscars Weekend
Oscars weekend, filled with glitz, glam, and celebs. And in the middle of it all Tom Ford staged a fashion show in Hollywood and it was well anticipated with some of our favorite celebs. What struck me the most was and is how Tom Ford describes fashion and how it "doesn't have rules anymore" and "there aren't seasons" I think he was right about there not being any rules when it comes to the new generation of fashion. Fashion icons are really adapting to wearing a certain design of garment such as a dress or heels to be able to look sexy all year around. One attendee, Gwyneth Paltrow agrees with him and was excited just like the other well known stars like Jay Z & Beyonce , Reese Witherspoon , Jared Leto, Elton John , Jennifer Lopez , John Legend and even the Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, who were well in attendance. This classic event was a big turnout that would out-duel another fashion mogul in attendance, Kanye West, who recently debuted his collaboration with Addidas Originals and his Yeezus brand for New York Fashion Week. What stuck me the most about Ford’s show was the "thousand rose petals" idea, the concept itself was amazing with the look of the lean and small runway they chose for the event, and it was executed the right way. Many other influencers, especially in the New York fashion world came to show their support. Later in the show Ford was asked if he was surprised for the turnout hinting to the mass celebrity attendance for his show and said happily "I know them all" (what good connections to have!) . What an epic weekend it was in Hollywood.

After looking it up and realizing how important contouring and highlighting the features of your face are, I hit Youtube to see how to do so, let's face it Youtube and Google are life, and most people would be dead without these two. So if you're like me wondering where to start when it comes to contouring and the proper way to do so check out these two videos I snagged from Youtube. The first video is by AlexandrasGirlyTalk, she does a lot of great makeup tutorials and "for less" beauty treatments so definitely check her out.

GENT! Adds European Designers of Lindbergh to Runway Ticket!
GENT! The first ever St. Louis Men's Designer Showcase is right around the corner, and to get even more excited about this ground breaking event, Creative Director Dwight Carter has added to the Roster Lindbergh. Who is Lindbergh you ask? Well Lindbergh is a quality and upscale men's retailer who "provides different styles of clothing" which is why they offer three different types of labels; the black label, the blue label, and the white label.
THE BLACK LABEL
Preppy and classic formal, consisting of garments such as shirts, suits, jackets, knits, and accessories such as socks, shoes, and scarfs.
THE BLUE LABEL
Rugged and casual, portraying the image of Americana, emphasizing sporty and army clothing combined with a vintage denim identity. This label is tailored to identify with the working man.
THE WHITE LABEL
Fashion formal with a look that reflects simplicity and coolness. Some of the popular items of this label are shirts, suits, jackets, and knits.
Not to mention Lindbergh recently opened its first retail location in Chesterfield Mall allowing the company take flight into St. Louis’ men’s fashion community. “The company is actually named after Charles Lindbergh so it only made sense to partner with its team and introduce the label at GENT!,” says the shows Creative Director, Dwight Carter. This is definitely a show that should not be missed!
Also to mention the other designers who will be featured including Paulie Gibson, Christian Michael, and Shan Keith.
Come see the new fashion trends in men;s style while enjoying libations, light appetizers, and The Men's Lounge. This innovative runway experience will be next Thursday, Febuary 26th at the Mungenast Lexus in St. Louis. Door open at 6pm for VIP and the show begins at 8pm. Advanced GA tickets are $20 and advanced VIP tickets are $45 which can be purchased here. Prices at the door will be $30 for GA and $55 for VIP, with a portion or the proceeds going to The Humane Society of Missouri.
This event is also opened to media press. For more information contact Katie Foster of Foster Relations at fosterrelationsllc@gmail.com or 636-236-7271 (cell), or visit www.brainchildevents.com.

Valentine's Day is among us once again! And whether you're going out with your boo, your girls, or by yourself to mingle with all of the other single people you need something fierce and sexy to wear. Well #MOAF has you covered with 3 great V-Day outfit ideas that make up our Ultimate V-Day Outfit Guide!
These outfits are very versatile, and can be worn well after Valentine's Day which is great for your closet and your budget! This first outfit consists of a nude and gold palette, very soft, sensual, and flirty, perfect for a night out with the mister. This Tara Vee Dress is great to give your body a sleek and slender look, paired with either these sexy LFL Jigsaw heels or these J/Slides by J.Litvak Eva pumps, your outfit is destined to win. To top it off, gold jewelry and clutch & a natural palette of makeup will bring this look together.
*Watch: Oasis Gold Bracelet Dial Watch, Earrings: Versus Gold Lion Stud Earrings, Clutch: Saint Laurent Python-Stamped Monogramme Long Clutch, Lipstick: Glo Minerals, Eye Shadow: Lulu's Sigma Warm Neutrals Eye Shadow Palette
This second outfit is so sexy and great for a dinner date, speed dating, or a fancy outing on the town. This Abbey Lace Cami Dress gives that sexy effect resembling lingerie at the top, and the classic pointed toe heel from Kurt Geiger Vida gives a classy look. It might be chilly outside so this black blazer from Zalando not only ties into the color scheme but will keep you nice and warm. I love the look of this Fendi Shopper bag, it just speaks to me and completes the look. Add silver, crystallized jewelry to add a touch of elegance, and keep the color palette of the makeup/nails red to let the color flow throughout the outfit.
*Necklace: Coast Bella Beaded Collar Necklace, Earrings: Diamond Cluster Halo Stud Jewelry by Palm Beach Jewelry, Makeup: Guerlain KissKiss Holiday Look Trio
Now this is my favorite outfit out of the three. I worked around these amazing color splashed shoes by Alexander McQueen and tried to use each color in the outfit. First complimenting the white in the shoes, we have this gorgeous summer track dress accompanied with this nude leather waterfall drape blazer by Oasis. I wanted to match the handbag with not only the dress but once again with the white in the shoes, so I chose this ever so popular imitation leather rucksack by H&M. And of course, keeping the jewelry simple and the makeup palette natural, this is a fun, flirty outfit for a day activity with your girls or your guy, or maybe a V-Day outing with the family.
*Watch: The Estelle Pastel by Komono, Necklace: Atmos & Here Fortune Necklace, Lipsticks: Butter London Lippy Tinted Balm Duo, Eyeshadow: Burberry Beauty Complex Eye Palette

Walgreens or CVS?: Where to Go for a Makeup Drugstore Haul
Feb 12, 2015
I have come to love cosmetics, in every way they come. From lipsticks to stains, foundations to blush sticks, and everything in between. But let's face it, my income cannot support me splurging my wants to be in Sephora each and everyday. So to accommodate, I always make my monthly trip to the drug store, where I can get the same name brand cosmetics for a fraction of the cost. Two of the most visited drugstores across the U.S. would be Walgreens and CVS, which so happens to be two of my favorite places to go when it comes to getting my cosmetics on the low. Lately however, I have been leaning towards one more than the other, specifically Walgreens over CVS, and there are some key reasons why:
Selection of Products
In general, Walgreens and CVS have most of the same products when it comes to cosmetics, Revlon, Covergirl, the big name brands. But for some reason when I go into a CVS some of the other brands such as Wet n' Wild or Almay are either non existent or in such a small section to where you miss it. The picture to the right show what was bought between both Walgreens and CVS, I only found 4 lipsticks from Almay appealing, everything else came from Walgreens. A lot of the brands that sometimes can't be found at CVS are the cost efficient brands that have great wear to them, such as Wet n' Wild, which is what I found at Walgreens (to the right). Everything I bought was mostly $1.00 except for the lip stains which were $2.99 each, but still, that's a great deal compared to every other brand. and from what I found in CVS, I don't think they had anything under $4.00.
Price/Sales
The price between the two companies are relatively consistent, I just believe Walgreens gives better sales/markdowns on the prices.
Location
I want to say this is keeping in mind that CVS is younger than Walgreens, but it seems as if there is a Walgreens on every corner. Mind you CVS is definitely trying to catch up, but until that happens, Walgreens (at least in my area) is more convenient for me at this time.
What about for you, do you prefer Walgreens over CVS or is it the other way around? Better yet, is there anything drug store that beats these two out completely? Let us know in the comments below!!!

Tasteful vs. Trashy All in One Issue of LOVE
Feb 8, 2015
LOVE Magazine has been bombared with Kardashian/Jenner energy all the way around. The most two controversial topics of this month's issue is the topless/nude photos both Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian took for the magazine but in my opinion they're on opposite ends of the spectrum. Kendall's photos are very much abstract and more typical in a fashion shoot, but the particular pic Kim K. did for Prada showing her bare ass was a fail for both parties. This shot has been over done for Mrs. Kardashian-West and Prada shouldn't have used a recently done photoshoot, the idea is over-used, and we've seen her ass before too many times. This photo is confusing, slopping, and I'm trying to figure out what the hell is Prada in this ad, is it the shoes? Either way, Kendall comes out Tasteful and unfortunately Kim comes out trashy...as many times before.
Style Tips: What to Wear to a Fashion Show
Feb 6, 2015
For me, the first sign that I've somewhat made it in the fashion industry was being invited to a fashion show. That's where everyone who is anyone is going to be, drinking, mingling, and having what seems to be the best freakin' time ever (and it is). But the question I am always asked when inviting someone to attend these things with me is "well what should i wear?". This question is one of the most important questions anyone will ever ask...ever. On one hand you want to look like you belong but on the other you don't want to go so over the top everyone knows you're a naive fashion student looking for attention. So what do you do? Well check out the tips below that'll hopefully answer the question on what to wear to a fashion show:
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!
You do not want to be the girl hobbling around for the entire show because your feet are begging God to end their misery. Fashion shows, including the before mingling session and possible after party can go on for hours, especially if it's fashion week. I suggest wearing comfy shoes! If you're really dying to break in those new pumps that you just copped I suggest bringing a backup pair of flats or sandals that coordinate with your outfit. Take as many body selfies as you can before your feet start to ache so that way you still have memories for Instagram before the god awful moment of when the pain kicked in.
Simple is always good
Unless your a top dog in the fashion industry in whatever city you're in, then you don't want to come trying to steal the spotlight. This is not the club or the bar, and no matter how dressy you may look, most of the important people came for the other important people, the rest of us are just squatters. I always suggest a nice simple look, one color theme, something like that. I always tend to do all white or all black mixed with a pop of color. It's easy for me and gives me more room to style.
Add your personal flare
If you're known for wearing fedoras, or your collection of small chained cross body clutches, this is the time to show off that style. If you make connections with the top dogs (especially for someone like me as a blogger) they may not remember your name, but they'll remember that certain thing that describes your fashion personality.
NO SKIMPY CLOTHES!!!
I can't begin to explain how many girls I know who have been yelled at by professors for showing up to fashion week in something you would wear to the booty club. Bless their hearts, they had every good intention to come and be professional, but the clothing didn't show it. Skin, as far as cleavage, high midriff, or the butt should never be shown, it's just inappropriate. Even though the fashion industry is being dominated by our younger generation, many of these people were put into their positions by our fashion elders who still show up at each and every event. It's just not professional, and very embarrassing. If you're ever in doubt about an outfit, either bring a jacket/blazer or simply just change!
Dress in layers
I say this more as an option but this is something I personally do. I never know how the venue is going to be, just like when you go into a restaurant. It may be hot it may be cold, it may be raining when you leave to go to your car. I always suggest dressing in layers just to be on the safe side, a nice blouse and blazer is great, and if you end up not needed the blazer simply take it off.
Small over big
I am that girl who carries a big handbag at a show so I know personally the truth to what I am going to say. Always try to go for a small clutch vs. a big bag. For me it's beneficial because I am usually there reporting or for some type of blogging matter and need to bring a few items, but most of you are just going to enjoy the collections, shop, and get drunk. You don't want to look like a bag lady, with your purse getting in the way. It gets heavy, your arm starts to hurt, and you don't have the energy to drop your purse off in the car so you lug it around. The best handbag for a fashion show is a strapped crossbody/clutch. It's small but big enough for your wallet, I.D., phone, deodorant, and makeup, and you can easily move around with it across your body.
