These last two weeks have been filled with hype from NYFW, but St. Louis has been name dropped many of times with various shows, capturing street style looks of our hometown's favorites, and quoted from NY Post and "taking over fashion week". And with such a high honor statement, it's just the icing on the cake to kick off Saint Louis Fashion Week!
First off, did anyone else know that Karlie Kloss was from Webster!!! It might not excite you, but for a Kirkwood High School girl like myself (Webster's best friends/rivals) this makes me tingle allllll around! And of course with Karlie being one of the forefront women of fashion week, many others headed to the big apple to bring some Midwest Swang to the busy city, including Derek Blasberg (who graduated from Affton High School) & Andy Cohen (who graduated from Clayton). With such a high abundance of St. Louis natives invading NYFW, it prompted NY Post to take to their outlet posting their story
Such a high, dare I say, acclaim, that was bestowed on our beloved city, don't you say? And it makes me even more excited to announce the events for Saint Louis Fashion Week, which we will be heavily covering this year!
To kick things off, this year ALIVE Magazine will be holding the Fashion Week Boutique Hop (October 17th 10am-5pm), a chaffeured tour of several of St. Louis’ top boutiques! Shop in style for your Saint Louis Fashion Week wardrobe, with exclusive deals, discounts, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres offered at each stop. Participating boutiques include Blush, Marta's/MOD, Vie, Splash, Ivy Hill, Lusso, Fauxgerty and The Vault. What's really neat about this event is if you opt in for VIP, you'll not only get a gourmet box lunch, refreshments and special shopping deals with 5% of the profits going to Saint Louis Fashion Fund to help new and upcoming designers, but you'll also get a VIP gift bag filled with fantastic fashion-forward goodies from Dominic Michael AND an exclusive backstage tour at STLFW Emerging Designer Show!
On October 22nd, we're turning up the way we do with the official Saint Louis Fashion Week Kickoff Party! ALIVE Magazine and Saint Louis Fashion Week have teamed up with West County Center to highlight Fall 2015's most exciting (and wearable!) trends. Join St. Louis' savviest shoppers on Thursday, October 22 for the Saint Louis Fashion Week Kickoff Party.
The runway show begins at 7pm featuring styles from West County Center stores. Shopping will immediately follow with special offers and promotions for all attendees. Ticket proceeds will be helping our friends at Friends Of Wings.
And finally, the week we all are waiting on, FASHION WEEK! November 4th-7th is nothing but fashion filled goodness, including the Emerging Designer Competition (November 4th), Wear It Fashion Challenge (November 5th), Projects + Gallery (November 6th), and Designer Pop Up (November 7th).
